There’s a new gun slinger in town…
How’s this for a bio? At the age of 8 you pick up your first guitar, by the age of 11 you’re playing local clubs and bars with hundreds of gigs under your belt.
Within another 2 years you’re playing every night of the week and you’re attracting the attention of some big time players like Joe Bonamassa.
By the age of 16 you’ve seen it all – from playing biker rallies to having to bed down with a 9 foot python while on tour. You’ve had to escape through the kitchen door of a venue when riots break out across London and you’ve toured with acts like Blackberry Smoke and Wilko Johnson.
Then you record your debut album in LA with Fabrizzio Grossi, a guy who has previously produced Alice Cooper and Slash. The album is released and it’s plastered with accolades like “the first truly great album of 2017” (100% Rock Magazine, AU) and “a smokin’ hot talent about to unleash a killer debut” (Fireworks, UK).
All of this and you’ve only just turned 19.
Welcome to the short and already distinguished career of Aaron Keylock, the teenage blues wunderkind from Oxford. His debut album Cut Against the Grain owes it’s heritage to classic blues based rock n’ roll. So if you’re into Johnny Winter, Rory Gallagher, The Allman Brothers, Led Zep or T. Rex tune in to hear the story of this young gun on the Sound Distractions podcast.
But before you get your fix on the podcast check out Just One Question, a song he wrote when he was just 13! There’s some vintage footage of Aaron in this vid with a dose of brilliant electric blues reminiscent of Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore.
