Sound Distractions is a site dedicated to music. Essentially it’s a page for fans of music created by someone with obviously far too much time on his hands! Posts include music features, new music reviews, classic albums (Made For Vinyl) and artist interviews. There’ s also a Sound Distractions podcast featuring fascinating music stories by music makers – you’ll find the podcast link on the top right corner of the home page.
Why Sound Distractions? “Sound” is obviously a reference to music, but it also implies honest opinion (as in sound advice) and something that resonates (like a sounding board). As for “Distractions”, well it could mean diversion, amusement or entertainment – in an age of information overload and fleeting attention spans hopefully you’ll find the distractions here a worthwhile investment of your time.
Who’s behind Sound Distractions?
My name is Trevor Jackson and I’ve been incredibly lucky to have been involved in and around music for most of my life. I’ve been a radio broadcaster, music director, content director, music journalist, nightclub DJ, freelance writer and television reporter. You name a gig in the media and I’ve probably done it.
I’ve never lost my sense of wonder when it comes to sound. The great thing about music is that it’s an endless universe begging to be explored. I still get blown away by an amazing new artist or discovering a hot song for the first time. So while this site is about sharing those discoveries with you, it’s also about the much bigger picture of the impact music plays in our lives. When it comes down to it I’m a fan, just like you.
